Commencement Returns to Sherbeck Field

Nearly 900 graduates crossed the commencement stage to receive their diploma at Fullerton College’s 107th Commencement on May 21, 2022. This 2022 commencement was marked by many joyful tears and emotion as graduates and their families had the opportunity to enjoy the celebration in-person at Sherbeck Field for the first time since 2019.

Erin Lacorte

Fullerton College and the entire North Orange County Community College District lost a true advocate for students and social justice when Erin Lacorte passed away from cancer last fall. Lacorte came to Fullerton College as a non-traditional, postbaccalaureate student looking to make a career change by taking prerequisite courses to meet the requirements to attend medical school. However, their time at Fullerton College far exceeded academic pursuits.

Lacorte instinctively carved out a student leadership path by first joining Associated Students and then being elected as Student Trustee to the NOCCCD Board of Trustees during the 2021-2022 year. They advocated for students, especially those who are marginalized, and served on numerous committees amplifying a student perspective in important district and college work.

Lacorte had planned to transfer to California State University, San Marcos in the fall of 2022 to pursue a Pre-Health Certificate in preparation for medical school and the MCAT. Fullerton College and NOCCCD have grown from the gifts that Erin Lacorte gave, and they are loved and missed.
