FC’s Catherine Lee was crowned as the 2022 CCCAA Individual State Champion after shooting a 75-79-154 during the two-day State Tournament at Morro Bay.

Ethnic Studies Professor Dr. Rosie Kar was named the 2023 Fullerton College Faculty of the Year and will be a NOCCCD nominee for the Orange County Department of Education’s 2024 OC Teacher of the Year.

Fullerton College welcomed Dr. Grant Linsell as its new dean of Fine Arts and Dr. Bridget Salzameda as dean of Natural Sciences.

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy awarded Fullerton College French Club second place in the “France on Campus Awards” for the 2023 Fullerton College French Film Festival.

The Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency have designated Fullerton College’s Cybersecurity program as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD).

Student Life and Leadership Director Dr. Naomi Abesamis co-presented two workshop sessions at the annual Student Leadership Conference hosted by the California Community Colleges Student Affairs Association (CCCSAA).

Fullerton College student journalists earned multiple first-place awards in national student journalism contests, including best cover, best two-year feature magazine, and top awards for writing and design for the Spring 2022 issue of Inside Fullerton magazine.

The Fullerton College Speech and Debate Team dominated the competition at both the Crossman Invitational and the Public Forum Fall Championships.

Fullerton College’s Staff Development won the California Community College Council for Staff Development (4CSD) Innovative Activity Award for their Culturally Responsive Training for Faculty event coordinated by Staff Development Coordinator Jeanne Costello.

Fullerton College music instructor Dr. Monica Lee was the recipient of the Muckenthaler’s Dr. James Young Arts Legacy Award.

The Office of Campus Communications received numerous National Council for Marketing and Public Relations Medallion awards for creative work they produced to help promote the college, increase enrollment and build community during the last academic year.

Phi Theta Kappa student Annemarie Rider was selected as a 2022 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and received a $1,000 scholarship.

The DeVries triplets–Grant, Kennedy, and Madison– each graduated with high honors in May 2022. They first enrolled at 14 as dual enrollment students in the fall of 2018.

Paralegal Studies adjunct professor Douglas Lusk was recognized by CIO Views Magazine as one of the top 10 most inspiring people in legal services.

President Olivo and the Promise Program each presented at the annual AAHHE conference.

Last but not least, celebrated poet and English Professor Cynthia Guardado is receiving acclaim for her second collection of poems “Cenizas.” According to a Los Angeles Times article, “Her verse mixes family and personal histories, bounces between nations and covers the U.S.-funded civil war in El Salvador, which lasted from 1979 through 1992. At its core is an essential question: How should the generation after a war relate to the violence that has preceded us, and where do we go next?”
